Tenth Anniversary of China-Mexico Strategic Partnership Shows Increasing Collaboration
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Mexico. According to Zhang Run, the Chinese ambassador to Mexico, under the joint leadership of both countries, bilateral relations have become increasingly strategic, comprehensive, and mutually beneficial.
On the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Run revealed that, according to statistics from China’s General Administration of Customs, bilateral trade volume increased by 4.83% in the first eight months of this year. Practical cooperation between the two nations continues to advance in areas such as manufacturing, photovoltaic energy, and rail transport.
Run also highlighted that Mexico’s Infrared Earth Observation Platform is one of the nine experimental projects in China’s first space station call. “This means that Beijing and Mexico will soon shake hands, but this time in space,” he added.
The ambassador noted that federal officials from Mexico, including legislators and governors from states like Yucatán and Durango, have made various visits to China, reflecting the growing closeness between the two countries.
Yucatán Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal reported that his trip to Beijing, Ordos, Hangzhou, and Shanghai aimed to promote the state and attract investments. “We managed to sign an agreement with the world’s largest clean energy generation company, China Power International Development Limited. We are also collaborating with Alibaba to boost the participation of Yucatecan producers, entrepreneurs, and companies in the electronic market,” he said.
According to the China Association of the Yucatán Peninsula, it is estimated that more than 200,000 Yucatecans have Chinese ancestry in their history.
